Go ahead and put this season on ice.
The Atlanta Falcons fell to 4-6 on the season and all but eliminated their playoff hopes after falling 22-19 to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
Who’s up and who’s down in the loss?
Up
Vic Beasley
Beasley hadn’t sacked the quarterback in what seemed like eons, but he was able to get to Dak Prescott twice. I’d hesitate to say it’s the start of a roll for the former first-round pick — although the Falcons would benefit greatly — but it was nice to see him seal the deal twice after several almost-sacks.
Julio Jones
You know why Jones is here. Sure, he finished with six receptions for 118 yards, caught a touchdown for the third straight game, and racked up his 46th 100-yard receiving game, which is the most ever through eight seasons, but the devastating blow he delivered to the Cowboys’ Jeff Heath is what stole the show. The wide receiver quickly turned into a safety after Heath had what looked to be an interception and separated the Dallas player from the ball. A thing of absolute beauty.
Matt Bryant
Bryant isn’t human. Coming off a hamstring injury that sidelined him for a couple of weeks, he made four field goals (21. 41, 45, 53) look like another day at the office. Hopefully he can kick for the Falcons forever.
Down
Calvin Ridley
Ridley was at fault for another interception against the Cowboys. What should’ve been a routine catch early in the fourth quarter turned into a gift for Dallas linebacker Leighton Vander Esch. Two plays later, Ezekiel Elliott rushed to the end zone from 23 yards out to give Dallas a two-score lead.
Dan Quinn
Quinn pulled a Mike Smith and helped Dallas out by calling a timeout on what turned out to be the game-winning field goal drive. He undoubtedly has complete job security as head coach of the Falcons — and for good reason — but his game management skills are inarguably bad.
Ryan Schraeder
What in the world has happened to Schraeder?
