Arizona Cardinals must limit offensive possessions to have chance to beat Kansas City Chiefs

For the Arizona Cardinals to have a shot, they'll have to limit the touches for the NFL's top offense.

It’s been a long two weeks since the Arizona Cardinals beat the San Francisco 49ers to run their season record to 2-6.

So long that you almost forgot that the 2-6 Cardinals were in fact 2-6 and going into a matchup with the best offensive team in the NFL.

Yep, that’s what today is.

When you break this game down it really is simple… the Arizona Cardinals have to find a way to keep the ball out of Patrick Mahomes hands as much as possible.

The Chiefs are scoring at an unbelievable clip, so if you give them 10 possessions, they’ll likely end up scoring on six of them.

That’s right, the 2018 Chiefs are scoring on 56% of their offensive possessions, so the key to the game is simple, limit their possessions.

Of course, that’s easier said than done for an Arizona Cardinals offense that is scoring on a league low 17% of their drives while also being last in time of possession, average yards per drive and average plays per drive.

So, no matter what happens today on defense, if the offense for the Cardinals plays to their season average, the defense won’t have an opportunity to make a difference against the Chiefs.

The more possessions you give the Chiefs, the more chances you give the best offense in the NFL a chance to score points. That’s what they do better than any team in the NFL, so, let’s limit that as much as possible, or else it could be a long day in Kansas City.
