Buffalo laid the wood to their longtime divisional rival
The New York Jets played like a team that thought it had a win in the bag on Sunday, but the Buffalo Bills had other ideas. The visiting Bills trampled the Jets, winning 41-10 in a game that only close for two plays.
While there were some positive matchups to consider in fantasy football for Jets players this week, none of them really came to fruition. Here were the Jets’ top three scorers against the Bills.
RB Isaiah Crowell
Crowell seemed like a risky play, as he had not scored a touchdown or broken the 100-yard rushing mark since the fifth week of the season, but he had the potential to make Buffalo crazy. His speed gives any defense headaches, but the Bills were able to slow him down all throughout the day. Add to that a negative game script caused by Buffalo’s offensive explosion, and Crowell was limited both by the defense and by circumstance. He did manage to sneak into the end zone in the second half, salvaging what was an otherwise pedestrian line. He carried the ball 7 times for 19 yards and the aforementioned touchdown, and he also caught 2 passes for 18 yards. He scored 10.7 fantasy points to lead New York on the day.
RB Elijah McGuire
The Jets’ second-string runner was their second-leading fantasy scorer on Sunday, checking in with 7.2 fantasy points. He rushed for 30 yards on 6 carries, adding 3 receptions for 27 yards in the process. Buffalo’s defense did a great job keeping the Jets in poor situations, stopping the run on early downs and forcing veteran quarterback Josh McCown into third and long situations right from the jump. That limited both running backs’ effectiveness for the Jets.
K Jason Myers
The pride of Marist College scored 6 fantasy points on Sunday while only making 1 field goal and 1 extra point. His big blow was a 55-yard field goal as time expired in the first half. That kick cut the Bills’ 31-0 lead to 31-3, and it also turned a four possession game into a...four possession game. Myers’ fantasy owners were no doubt happy that Todd Bowles decided to kick there, and truthfully, I can’t even say it was an awful decision—at least it became a four-possession game where the Jets didn’t need 4 two-point conversions, as well. Regardless, the kick led to Myers ranking third among all Jets in fantasy scoring this week.
