Chicago Bears vs Detroit Lions: NFL Week 10 Pre-Party Livestream and Open Thread

The Bears play three games in twelve days, and they start the second half of the season against the Detroit Lions.

Good morning. The Bears play their second divisional game of the year today.

They also play their first of three divisional games in a twelve-day span as they hang on to their NFC North lead.

This, in a massive understatement, is what is called a “big stretch” for this plucky bunch.

Sure, the Lions will say stuff like they’ve won nine of the last ten matchups. Maybe stuff about how they cleaned the clocks of the Patriots team that beat the Bears, and beat the Dolphins team that beat the Bears quite convincingly. Or, about how in week 5 they beat the Packers team that the Bears dropped the ball against in week 1.

Don’t remind them of the Jets game they dropped by 31 points nor the Seahawks game the Lions dropped by 14. Don’t remind them the Bears of the last four seasons were a combined 19-45. Especially don’t remind them that in 8 games the Bears are 30-40 points shy of their total scoreboard output from each of the last two full seasons.

The 2018 Chicago Bears are 5-3. The last two teams they played won’t be forgetting that.

But today brings a chance to notch that first divisional win, and if the Navy and Orange are serious about taking this season and turning it into a playoff push, they have five games remaining against a tight division that they’ll need to do some serious work in. Allen Robinson returns against a dinged-up secondary. Kahlil Mack returns against an offensive unit that allowed ten sacks last week.

The second half begins now. Bear Down, my friends.

Today’s WCGSL will be a little abbreviated, as both Sam and myself are fighting off some nasty cold-type things, but we’ve got a lot to talk about heading into this stretch. So for the next hour or so, we’ll be taking your comments, questions, and other remarks at the following avenues:

  • Here, this comment thread, right here.
  • Over on the Twitch at SJS_illini
  • Over on our Twitters: I’m at @SJS_illini, Sam is at @SamHouseholder

We’ll see you at 9:30 AM CT; be there.
