Eagles swap out practice squad tight ends

Even more tight end news.

Designating Richard Rodgers to return from injured reserve wasn’t the only tight end news the Philadelphia Eagles made on Tuesday afternoon. The team also announced a change to the practice squad with Billy Brown being cut and replaced by Will Tye.

The 27-year-old Tye originally signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2015. He played 29 games (17 starts) over two seasons with the G-Men and logged 90 receptions for 859 yards and four touchdowns in that stretch.

After being cut but the Giants in September 2017, Tye spent a one-month stint with the New York Jets. He then joined the Patriots’ practice squad and was with New England until getting waived with an injury designation during final cuts.

I guess the Eagles like Tye’s “proven” track record over Brown’s theoretical upside. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Brown showed some promise as a rookie in the 2017 offseason but he failed to take a step forward this year.

Here’s an updated look at the Eagles’ practice squad:

TE Will Tye

CB De’Vante Bausby

DT Bruce Hector

RB Donnel Pumphrey

LB B.J. Bello

OL Josh Andrews

LB Asantay Brown

WR Braxton Miller

WR Dorren Miller

DE Joe Ostman
