Former Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant feared to have torn Achilles after just signing with Saints

Hoping the best for Dez.

A lot has happened and been said since the Dallas Cowboys released Dez Bryant back on April 13th.

He had public feuds with fans on social media, called out his former teammates, and this week finally moved on when he signed with the New Orleans Saints.

It took until Week 10 for Dez to find the fit that worked best for both him and the team, and it was almost universally agreed upon that New Orleans was that spot. Dez with Drew Brees, Alvin Kamara, Mark Ingram, Michael Thomas, all under Sean Payton sounded special.

Unfortunately all of that may have only been a dream of a few days. It was reported on Friday afternoon that Dez is feared to have torn his Achilles on the final play of practice for New Orleans.

We’re talking about a member of the New Orleans Saints here, but Dez’s place in Cowboys lore isn’t one of question. He’s the franchise’s all-time leader in receiving touchdowns which is what was going to make his return on November 29th all the more memorable. That appears to be very much in doubt.

So much of Dez’s signing seemed intelligent on his part because he specifically wanted a one-year deal to prove his worth so that he could hit free agency in the offseason. If he’s now going to be coming off of a torn Achilles in November, having not played a football game since the 2017 season, it’s going to be tough for a 30-year old Dez to find work. It’s possible that this could mean the end of his career in the NFL.

Dez Bryant is one of the greatest players in Dallas Cowboys history. Let’s all hope for the best for him, however this news shakes out.
