Former Georgia star Aaron Murray goes high in AAF QB draft

The Alliance of American Football (AAF) held its inaugural quarterback draft on Tuesday night, and football fans will recognize many of the players selected. Perhaps the most notable name in the draft was former Georgia star Aaron Murray, who was protected by the Atlanta Legends. Murray is the SEC’s career passing yards and passing touchdowns leader after being a successful four-year starter for the Bulldogs. He was drafted by the Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2014 draft but never threw a pass in the NFL. He seems excited to have a new team: The AAF’s draft was territorial, meaning players who had ties to a certain region were able to be “protected” by their respective team. For instance, San Diego went first in the QB draft and protected former USD QB Josh Johnson. Murray, who played at Georgia, was protected by the Atlanta team. There were two rounds of the QB draft.
