Rookie honored for performance against Tampa Bay
What will 142 yards rushing on 27 carries, two receptions for 10 more yards and three overall touchdowns get you? For Saquon Barkley of the New York Giants, it got him the NFC Offensive Player of the Week award.
Barkley’s work led the Giants to a 38-35 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This is Barkley’s first Play of the Week honor.
.@Giants @saquon makes you watch b/c you never know when nor where the “flash” is going to come. When ya’ll go down to your local HS this holiday go try out a few “SAQUON’s” it will you feel alive. #BaldysBreakdowns pic.twitter.com/TLUuPXNmQe

Barkley is the just the second Giants rookie to win an Offensive Player of the Week award, which were instituted in 1984. Tight end Jeremy Shockey was selected in Week 17 of the 2002 season.
You get the feeling that this is just the first of many honors to come during the rookie running back’s career.
