Plus, LeSean McCoy recorded his first (and second) touchdown of the season.
It was a weird week in the NFL (and pretty stupid ending on Sunday night). The Browns beat the Falcons, the Titans embarrassed the Patriots, and the Bills absolutely dominated the Jets in a win that was spearheaded by quarterback Matt Barkley and finally saw the explosive Shady McCoy doing what he does best.
Here’s how a bunch of former Eagles did in Week 10 of the 2018 NFL season:
Bills start Barkley, McCoy scores (x2)
Former Eagles draft pick, quarterback Matt Barkley, was signed by the Buffalo Bills after the teams No. 1 and 2 QBs were sidelined with injury, and their best option was Nathan Peterman. Barkley actually got the start for the Bills on Sunday against the Jets, and led the team to their best performance in weeks, and a 41-10 win.
The quarterback went 15-of-25 for 232 yards and two touchdowns, and solidly took the starting role from Peterman. His first pass of the night was a 48-yard long ball, and he had a nice touchdown late in the third quarter.

Barkley wasn’t the only good thing about Buffalo’s offense on Sunday, LeSean McCoy had his biggest game of the year and found the endzone for his first — and then second — score of the season. Shady had 26 carries for 113 yards and two touchdowns against the Jets, including putting the first points on the board in the first drive of the game.

Other offense updates
Despite the surprising success of Matt Barkley in Week 10, there were several other former Eagles players who had fairly mediocre performances this week.
LeGarrette Blount had just four yards on six carries in the Lions loss to the Bears. Chicago tight end Trey Burton caught all four of his targets in the 34-22 win, but only netted 40 yards on the day.
DeSean Jackson caught five of his eight targets, good for just 67 yards in the Bucs 3-16 loss to Washington.
And, on defense, Beau Allen had three total tackles for the Bucs on Sunday, including one for loss, and similarly CB Daryl Worley had three total tackles for the Raiders. In the Titans win over the Patriots, former Eagles DT Bennie Logan made just one tackle.
Roster moves
The Eagles released receiver and special teams player DeAndre Carter who was then claimed off waivers by the Texans.
In some truly terrible news, DeAndre Carter will not be returning to the Eagles’ practice squad. The Houston Texans claimed the 25-year-old wide receiver/punt returner via waivers on Wednesday. The Eagles had waived Carter on Tuesday in order to sign defensive tackle T.Y. McGill.
Kicker Caleb Sturgis had a really rough game last week in his return from a quad injury, and was released shortly afterward. And, while that’s bad news for the former Eagles kicker, it’s also bad news for Philadelphia in terms of compensatory picks.
Well, here’s some inconvenient news for the Eagles coming out of their bye. With the Los Angeles Chargers releasing embattled kicker Caleb Sturgis, the Eagles are no longer projected to receive a compensatory pick in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
Injuries, Inactives and Bye Weeks
- Week 10 marks the final week of linebacker Mychal Kendrick’s suspension, and is allowed to return to team activities on Nov. 12.
- The Patriots had two former Eagles inactive on Sunday in their loss to the Titans, recently signed Matt Tobin and running back Kenjon Barner.
- Torrey Smith was still inactive for the Panthers with a knee injury, and Vinny Curry was out again for the Bucs with a lingering ankle injury.
- And, your weekly reminder that WR Marcus Johnson (Colts), CB Patrick Robinson (Saints), and Jalyn Watkins (Chargers) are on IR for their respective teams.
