Will it last more than one season?
When the Honey Badger sits down tomorrow to enjoy some honey ham and Thanksgiving football, he’ll list his decision to join the Houston Texans roster as something he’s very thankful for this year.
The Chronicle’s Aaron Wilson recently did a piece on Tyrann Mathieu’s happiness with his new football home.
“I think we’ve got a long way to go, but I think we’re off on the right start,” Mathieu said. “I thought I picked the right group of guys to go to war with, go to battle with each and every week. I told those guys last night how much I love them, how much I enjoy playing with them.”
Even though his recent appearance on Kid Reporter had him defending his hairstyle against accusations of wearing curly fries under his helmet, Tyrann Mathieu has settled into his new role and is really comfortable in his new hometown.
Wilson assures readers the love goes both ways:
Mathieu is someone the Texans will attempt to sign to a long-term contract this offseason. The business aspect of the game will happen latter.
If Houston can lock down the Honey Badger, keep Kareem Jackson, continue to develop Justin Reid, and bring in at least one other solid cornerback, the Houston defensive backfield will look better than it has is a long time, if not ever.
What do you think of Mathieu so far? Happy he’s in Houston and want him to retire in Battle Red? Wish Houston had grabbed a different player? Want them to lock someone else in instead of resigning the Honey Badger?
