The Jacksonville Jaguars are a bad team and they should feel bad, but today is about giving thanks. We’ve got a simple question — what are you thankful for?
Happy Thanksgiving!

I’m going to get a bit sappy, but I’m thankful for the Big Cat Country team. We’ve added some new contributors this year and they’ve knocked it out of the park. We brought back Ryan O’B and he’s been a workhorse. Jon has killed it handling the weekend. I’m thrilled Brian is back and Fil’s graphics are almost as impressive as his breakdowns. Laurie has killed it with film breakdowns and the other Ryan handles Facebook so I don’t have to touch it.

I’m thankful for last year — even if it set up the abomination that is this year. That was a good season and years from now when I look back at highlights I’ll be thankful that I got to watch such a dominant defense in real time.

I’m thankful for the Jaguars front loading contracts that will allow them to clear cap and rid themselves of numerous roster mismanagements up to and including the quarterback. Happy Thanksgiving!

I am thankful for the patience I have when it comes to the Jaguars. This was not the season I had in mind, and I try to stay as optimistic as possible, but I’ve survived nine losing seasons in a row at one point, so what’s one more? Another thing this season has taught me is that nothing is ever guaranteed, and there will always be parity in the NFL. While it hasn’t been the result I was looking for, it’s humbling. I am also thankful for BCC, which allows me to have the opportunity to cover the team I am most passionate about. As frustrating as the 2018 season has been, my fandom will never waver.

After this weekends loss to the Steelers my daughter texted me that she cried after the loss. Watching alone from her dorm room at the College of Charleston, she felt the need to let me know how emotionally invested she is in her hometown team.
It isn’t that she loves the team that much, or that she is proud of where she’s from. Those things are important, but what I appreciate more than anything else is the connection I have with my daughter thanks to Jaguars football.
The same is true for my son. When I coached Pop Warner football, the lot of us, kids and parents, took special care to ensure our game day experience was one of community. Parents grilling. Kids playing catch. It was everything. The friends I came to know are priceless, and Jaguars football is a critical part of those relationships.
I wanted to share something witty. Like, “I’m thankful for the Jaguars teaching me patience” or “I’m thankful for the Jaguars allowing me to better cope with failure”, but recently becoming an empty nester I’m all in my emotions.
Lastly, I’m thankful for the opportunity to write for a Jaguars fan site and hopefully entertain the readers in a way that creates a healthy community of fans. I love hearing your opinions on the varied topics, and I love reading what my fellow writers have to say. The wit and critical reviews contain great existential value.
Make sure you tell those around you you’re thankful for them. Nothing matters more than our relationships.

What I have to be thankful for when it comes to the Jaguars may be a little different than what most people would list. I’m sure many Jaguars fans covet the camaraderie of tailgating and the unique personal connections that come with attending the games, but living and working overseas, the Jaguars give me a much-needed connection to home. I’ve been away from from the States for almost four years now and there are a lot of things that I feel like I’ve been missing out on. So what I’m most thankful for is the Jaguars presenting me the medium and opportunity to bond with a sense of community and make me feel a little closer to home. The team’s performance on this side of the century may have been underwhelming, but the relationships I’ve made with so many great people and Jaguars supporters in Jacksonville and around the rest of the world has been invaluable.
