Arizona Cardinals place D.J. Humphries on injured reserve

The Arizona Cardinals young left tackle will finish another season on the IR.

It has been a season of injuries for the Arizona Cardinals and they were just dealt another big blow, this time in the form of starting left tackle D.J. Humphries. Humphries has been sidelined with a knee injury, that has consistently plagued him with swelling that will not go away.

This is especially a problem when you consider that Humphries has never played a full season and he’s never finished a season while a member of the Arizona Cardinals.

In his four seasons since being selected in the first round out of Florida, the soon to be 25 year old Humprhies has played:

2015: 0 games
2016: 13 games
2017: 5 games
2018: 9 games

27 career games out of a possible 64 is a large concern about Humphries viability long term.

In his stead will be Korey Cunningham, but the team also signed two offensive linemen today as well.

They brought in veteran Joe Barksdale along with Rees Odhiambo, from the team:

Barksdale (6-5, 326) is an eight-year NFL veteran who has played in 102 games (74 starts) in his NFL career with the Chargers (2015-18), Rams (2012-14) and Raiders (2011). A Detroit, MI native, Barksdale played in 48 games (43 starts) the past four seasons with the Chargers including six games (one start) this season prior to being released on Monday. He entered the league with Oakland as a third-round selection (92nd overall) in the 2011 NFL Draft out of LSU. After playing all 16 games as a rookie with the Raiders, the 29-year old Barksdale played the following three seasons with the Rams and started 31 games prior to joining the Chargers in 2015.

Odhiambo (6-4, 315) played in 15 games (seven starts) at both guard and tackle with the Seahawks in 2016-17 after entering the league with Seattle as a third-round selection (97th overall) in the 2016 NFL Draft out of Boise State. He was on the Falcons active roster for three weeks earlier this season after being signed from the Colts practice squad on October 24. Odhiambo was released by Atlanta and re-signed with the Colts practice squad on November 14. The 26-year old Odhiambo spent the preseason with the Seahawks prior to being released on September 2.

Barksdale will wear jersey #60 and Odhiambo will wear #63.

Good luck and good health to Humphries this offseason.
