The Bills, losers in three of their last four games, look to end the season on a high note
The last week of the NFL’s regular season is here, and with it a classic match-up between long-time AFC East foes. In Week 17, the Buffalo Bills (5-10) host the Miami Dolphins (7-8) for a 1 p.m. Eastern clash at New Era Stadium. Sunday’s game marks the first opportunity Josh Allen will face an opponent a second time.
The two teams met just a few weeks ago in Miami on December 2. Josh Allen led an impressive drive in the final two minutes that ended when he and Charles Clay couldn’t connect in the end zone. Despite the loss, Allen was impressive throughout the game, wearing down the Dolphins’ defense with his arm and legs (231 yards passing, two touchdowns, two interceptions, and a two-point conversion; nine carries for 135 rushing yards).
This will be the 106th meeting all-time between two teams that used to enjoy as fierce a rivalry as any the league has ever seen. Miami owns a 60-44-1 record all-time.
Last season, the Bills beat the Dolphins 24-16 at New Era Field. Buffalo jumped out to a 21-6 halftime lead via pairs of touchdowns from Tyrod Taylor (one rushing, one passing) and LeSean McCoy (one rushing, one receiving). Buffalo’s defense terrorized Jay Cutler throughout the second half, causing four fumbles (recovered by Cutler) and three interceptions. The Bills’ offense went into hibernation for most of the second half, and the Dolphins had a chance to tie the game with just over half a minute left in regulation following a successful onside kick. Tre’Davious White’s interception sealed the win for the Bills.
