Chris Ivory not expected to play against Patriots, per report

Sources tell Ian Rapoport that the veteran will miss another game due to a shoulder injury

Veteran running back Chris Ivory is not expected to play today, per a tweet from Ian Rapoport early Sunday morning.

Ivory missed last week’s victory over the Detroit Lions due to a shoulder injury that he suffered in the previous week’s loss against the New York Jets. He originally injured the shoulder against the Chicago Bears, and it caused him to miss Buffalo’s Week 10 victory over the Jets. Clearly, the injury has lingered, as he will now miss his second straight game after re-injuring the shoulder two weeks ago.

Last week’s starter at running back, Marcus Murphy, suffered a dislocated elbow during the game against Detroit. He has since been placed on injured reserve. That leaves the Bills with two running backs on their 53-man roster.

Veteran LeSean McCoy, who missed last week’s game with a strained hamstring strain, appears ready to play after sitting out one week. Undrafted rookie Keith Ford, who carried 14 times for 46 yards last week in his NFL debut, should be active as McCoy’s backup.

The Bills also used fullback Patrick DiMarco as a running back last week to give Ford a breather at times. His lone carry went for 9 yards. Wide receivers Isaiah McKenzie and Ray-Ray McCloud III may also see some carries today, especially if McCoy aggravates the hamstring injury at any point.
