Chris Maragos has another surgery on his knee

Hopefully he has a good recovery.

Eagles safety and special team maven Chris Maragos was sidelined with a torn PCL last October against the Panthers, and after spending the remainder of the year on injured reserve, was still designated to the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list for the team heading into (and throughout) the 2018 season.

Maragos tweeted on Tuesday that he was having surgery. On Wednesday, Doug Pederson confirmed the surgery was on Maragos’ knee.

In Chris’s case, first of all, I’m not going to get into details of all that. I will say this: it’s been unfortunate for him. He’s been battling this the whole season and now obviously he’s going to miss [this season]. But Chris has been such an instrumental part to this team. Kept him involved with the defense, with special teams. He’s such an inspiration to a lot of the guys, and his leadership. So, it is unfortunate, but [he’s] a great person, great human being. More of a good teammate to the guys.

The R-PUP designation would have allowed him return as early as Week 7 but it’s now clear he won’t play again this season.

One has to wonder if Maragos will ever play in the NFL again. He turns 32 in January and he’s set to be a free agent in March.
