Cowboys vs. Colts injury report: Ezekiel Elliott, Zack Martin miss practice, Sean Lee returns

The first Cowboys injury report of the week is in, and it’s a mixed bag.

The Dallas Cowboys held their first practice of the week as they prepare for a road game against the Indianapolis Colts. We had a pretty good idea of the practice report today from Jason Garrett’s press conference this morning. Here is the full report:

Zack Martin sat out practice today with his MCL knee injury and his status for the game on Sunday is in doubt. Connor Williams stepped into his spot long the line.

A surprising missing party from practice was Ezekiel Elliott. Zeke missed a little time in the last game after getting a stinger when he was penalized for lowering his helmet on a run. Elliott finished that game and his status for Sunday does not seem to be in any doubt.

Additionally, Geoff Swaim and David Irving were absent from practice.

The Cowboys did get a veteran star back in practice when Sean Lee finally took part in practice (limited). In year’s past, this news would be greeted with big parties and a parade, but the ascension of Leighton Vander Esch has made this a more routine story for the Cowboys and their defense.

Also, Tavon Austin returned to practice in a limited fashion. The speedster has been out for a lot of the season, but could be a boost heading down the stretch and into the playoffs (as long as the Cowboys get there). Tyron Smith also practiced and was limited.
