Daily Links: The Chargers are a likely playoff team

Your daily dose of Los Angeles Chargers news & notes from around the web.

NFL Playoff Picture 2018: Week 14 Standings, Super Bowl Odds and Wild-Card Hunt - Megan Armstrong
The Kansas City Chiefs eked out a 40-33 win against the terrible 2-10 Raiders. With the Los Angeles Chargers improving to 9-3 on Sunday night, the AFC West is still a question mark as the two teams meet again in Week 15. This leaves the AFC wild-card picture a little more in flux than it would seem.

This is Not Your Same Old Los Angeles Chargers - Ernie Padaon
Even at the end, I even believed in Michael Freaking Badgley!!! After all the kicking woes we had in FOREVER, I still had hope in him and he came through. He gave us a little scare, but he came through in the end and that is all that counts! I know a few other kickers that we could not have trusted in that situation and Badgley has that swag when he walks out there. The fact that he missed the first one and still had the rocks to put it through on the 3rd chance is huge!

Revisiting preseason concerns for all 32 NFL teams - Mike Sando (insider)
Philip Rivers finished that 2016 season with 33 touchdown passes and 21 interceptions during a 5-11 season. He enters Week 14 with 28 touchdowns and only six picks. His 1.6 percent interception rate would improve upon his career-best 1.7 percent rate from last season (down from a career-worst 3.6 percent in 2016). Rivers has put to rest any fears he would revert to some of his more turnover-prone seasons. As for the fears about lack of a home-field advantage, those persist, but they haven't held back the team appreciably.

Refocused, NFL Week 13: Los Angeles Chargers 33, Pittsburgh Steelers 30 - PFF Analysis Team
Rookie safety Derwin James had a monster game in primetime, as he recorded an interception and also broke up a pass. And any time the ball was caught underneath, James as aggressive in his pursuit and limited yards after catch.

Desmond King shines on SNF, continuing the remarkable start to his career - Ben Cooper
What King has been able to accomplish this season is nothing short of remarkable. From 2006 to 2017, there were 25 qualifying cornerbacks who, through 13 weeks, allowed a catch rate of 80 percent or higher. Only three of them had a passer rating below 100.0 — again, King’s is 79.7.
