Falcoholinks: All the Falcons news you need for Friday, Dec. 28

We bid a not-so-fond farewell to the 2018 season on Sunday.

The Falcons head to Tampa Bay to take on the Buccaneers on Sunday, the finale of a season we’d all prefer to forget. Sure, there were some bright spots, but the majority of 2018 was filled with injury, frustration, and utter apathy. The Falcons appear poised for a staff shakeup in the coming days, but first they play 60 against the Bucs. Here’s the last Falcoholinks of the season.

Plundering the Bucs

The Falcons should have some decent wiggle room for a free agent or two this offseason, and if you were to target an outgoing Buccaneer and add him to the Falcons, who would it be?

Give me Kwon Alexander, please. Health has been an issue for him, but a linebacking corps that contains both Kwon Alexander and Deion Jones is a tantalizing proposition.

GIF of the Week

Our Allen Strk is back again with his GIF review feature, and this week he takes a microscope to the wildcat play that turned into Mohamed Sanu’s longest run of the year. You’re all familiar with Allen’s aptitude with the X’s and O’s, so be sure to give this one a read. It was a fun play to watch, and a fun one to analyze.

Examining the Offense

The Falcoholic’s David Walker is out with his final offensive outlook for the season, and as you’re familiar he takes a look at the Falcons’ offense against that week’s opponent. This week: the Bucs and their talented defensive line. Who has the advantage in the match-up? Give ‘er a look.

Weis Guys Finish Last

Straight up: I do not want Charlie Weis to be the next offensive coordinator for this football team. He’s been out of the game for too long, he was fired from Kansas — but Cory Woodroof does have a point: Weis is well-connected in the building and has stated that he wants another NFL OC gig. Cory’s latest piece is a solid explainer on why Charlie Weis may actually be a legitimate candidate for the offensive coordinator position, should the team move on from Steve Sarkisian.
