And we’re certainly hoping that none of them actually plays in it.
Five New Orleans Saints players were named to the 2019 NFL Pro Bowl, which will be played on Sunday, January 27, 2019 in Orlando.
The five players are:
- Quarterback Drew Brees, who is having a masterful season despite a recent string of subpar games. This is Brees’ 12th Pro Bowl selection.
- Defensive end Cameron Jordan, who leads the team in sacks (12) and is adding to his lore in Black and Gold. This is Jordan’s fourth Pro Bowl selection.
- Wide receiver Michael Thomas, who is only the second Saints wide receiver to be selected to multiple Pro Bowls, as well as in consecutive seasons after Joe Horn (2001-02). This is Thomas’ second selection in his third NFL season.
- Left Tackle Terron Armstead enjoys his first selection to the Pro Bowl. The gifted protector of Drew Brees’ blindside would’ve likely been selected multiple times already were it not for his continuous struggles to stay healthy.
- Center Max Unger sees his third selection to the Pro Bowl, but his first as a New Orleans Saint. Unger has enjoyed his best season with New Orleans since being acquired from the Seattle Seahawks via trade four years ago.
Snubs?
It is a little puzzling not to see the name of Alvin Kamara on this list. The Saints’ versatile running back is tied for second in the NFL in rushing touchdowns (12) with Pittsburgh’s James Conner and the only NFC running back ahead of him in that category is the Rams’ Todd Gurley (17). Kamara also has four receiving touchdowns, which once again puts him second in the NFL in total touchdowns (16) behind the aforementioned Gurley (21).
However, with running backs like Gurley, Ezekiel Elliott, Saquon Barkley and Christian McCaffrey accumulating yards on the ground, and voters still favoring the outdated total yards metrics, you can understand why Kamara was left off the list.

I get the feeling that we are going to see a very motivated Alvin Kamara the rest of the way, and that’s a good thing.
