Five week winning streak ends in Jacksonville

The Indianapolis Colts’ five game win streak ended after falling 0-6 to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

“Tough loss,” head coach Frank Reich said after Sunday’s loss. “We came down here and we knew we were going to get their best effort. We knew we were going up against a top five defense. We played hard but we just didn’t execute the way we needed to.”

The Colts were unable to get anything going offensively throughout the whole game, constantly being stifled by a powerful Jacksonville defense. The Colts now have a record of 6-6 and hopes of edging into the playoff picture.

According to Seth Wilder of ESPN Analytics, “the Colts entered the day with a 41% chance to reach the playoffs. But after they lost to the Jaguars and the Ravens and Texans won, the Colts’ shot at the postseason is down to 16%, according to live projections from FPI.”

After allowing just one sack in six consecutive games, the Colts allowed three on Sunday at Jacksonville. They mustered only 41 rushing yards and lacked significantly in every aspect of the game.

“They deserve a lot of credit for stopping us,” Reich said. “Not every game is going to be running up and down the field - especially when you play a defense like that in their home stadium.”

The Colts will finish the season with the Cowboys, Giants and appearances against the Texans and Titans. If they have any chance of making the playoffs, they will look to shake off the dust from this week’s loss and advance into the wild card spot.
