In perhaps the final media availability for several coaches, they heaped praise on some of the team’s young players.
One thing is clear: the Green Bay Packers’ coaches believe there is talent on this team, even if it hasn’t shown it this year and even if they aren’t around to help develop it. Several of the assistant coaches spoke to the media on Thursday and a few players in particular were called out by name.
Specifically, the coach calling out players in a positive light was Joe Whitt, the defensive pass game coordinator. He singled out a trio of young cornerbacks as being players to watch moving forward. Unfortunately, only one — Tony Brown — has been healthy all season long, but Whitt complimented him on his passion and tenacity as he has taken on a big role with key players sitting out late in the season.
Meanwhile, the team’s top draft picks in each of the past two drafts have seemingly alternated playing time with injuries all year, robbing fans and coaches alike from seeing them together. While Kevin King’s issues seem more concerning long-term than Jaire Alexander’s, it sure would be nice to see the two healthy for a full season together to see what they can do on opposite sides of the field.
The coaches themselves face an uncertain future, however. Whether they will remain in Green Bay is highly dependent on the desires of the next head coach, and there’s no guarantee that Whitt, defensive coordinator Mike Pettine, or any of the other assistants will remain with the franchise next season. With that in mind, they are trying to enjoy their last week in Green Bay for this season, knowing it could be their last.

Joe Whitt doesn't know if his future lies in Green Bay, but he's excited about the possibilities of the two young Packers corners playing together. That didn't happen much at all in 2018, thanks to injuries to both players, but hopefully 2019 will hold better luck for the two moving forward.

It sounds like Pettine has no plans to formally apply for the head coaching job, which tracks with his previous comments about not wanting to be the head man again. Meanwhile, Whitt -- who may or may not be under contract for next season -- sounds like he does have his eye on a coordinator job if the opportunity arises.

This breakdown of the talent returning for the Packers' offense is why I still feel strongly that this should be an exciting and desirable job opportunity for an offensive-minded coach.
Davante Adams to catch his way to records if his knee cooperates - ESPN
While Adams still expects to play, I would not be surprised if the team puts him out there for a couple of plays early to get the reception record, then shuts him down. The last thing the Packers need is one of their key players injuring his knee further in a meaningless game.
