Beckham misses another practice
Odell Beckham Jr. has missed two straight games because of a quad injury and has yet to practice this week. That would indicate the New York Giants star wide receiver is unlikely to play Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. Yet, with just two games remaining Beckham doesn’t sound like he is shutting down for the season.
“If I can play, I’m going to play. It’s just the bottom line,” Beckham said. “You dreamed of being here, you dedicated, gave everything to be here, so you do all this to play games. As much fun as meetings are and all that other stuff, like you do this to play games, so if I can play, I’m in.
“I feel like initially when this happened I didn’t think much of it and it might have been a little more serious than I thought. Just trying to find my way back. You only get 16 opportunities to play games. Missing them is not fun. I feel like I’ve missed enough games already, so I’m just trying to get back as fast as possible.”
Whether he makes it back for Sunday’s game against the Colts or the season finale against the Dallas Cowboys, or whether it is smart to do so, is debatable.
“Like I said, you work to play these games and to be out there. These same guys, we get up every day, we go to work, get out there and practice hard,” Beckham said. “You want to play with your brothers. I want to play with (Sterling) Shep, Saquon (Barkley), finish the season strong. Just don’t know at this point. Like I said, I’m just taking it a day at a time.”
The Giants scored 40 points vs. Washington in the first game Beckham missed, but were shut out last week by the Tennessee Titans.
