Pro Football Focus Grades Texans In Win Over Browns

Pro Football Focus grades every player on every play in every game. I dig their raw number totals and have other opinions on their ability to grade individual plays like this. You may feel differently. No matter how you feel, there’s always something to learn from the work they do. This is what PFF had to say about the Texans’ win against the Browns.

OFFENSE:

—The offensive line was again impressive against the Browns, with every lineman that played a snap receiving a pass-blocking grade of over 70. They were led by Fulton (86.8) and Mancz (80.5), both of whom did not allow a single pressure. On the day, the Texans allowed just 13 total pressures, which is their third-lowest pressure total allowed this season.

—Tight end Jordan Thomas saw 40 total snaps against Cleveland, which was the third-most snaps he has played in a game all season. He made the most of his 15 passing routes, turning them into three catches on three targets for 32 yards and a touchdown. He produced a 76.9 receiving grade and a passer rating of 150.7 when targeted, and all three of his catches went for a first down or a touchdown.

DEFENSE:

—Zach Cunningham looks to be free of any lingering effects of his injury, producing an impressive 92.6 overall grade that ranked third among linebackers in Week 13. He was excellent in coverage (dropped into coverage on 30 of 41 snaps), producing a pick-six, a PBU and allowing a passer rating of 77.1 when targeted. This translated to a 93.0 coverage grade, which ranked first among all linebackers in Week 13.

—Justin Reid continues to make teams regret on passing him, with another standout performance versus the Browns. He produced his second elite overall grade of the season (90.7) to go along with an 89.6 coverage grade. Reid broke up two passes and chased down Antonio Calloway on what was sure to be a touchdown before the Stanford product chased him down and forced the fumble in front of the end-zone.
