Ravens vs. Buccaneers final: MVP, Stock-up & stock-down

In a sloppy affair, the Baltimore Ravens and Tampa Bay Buccaneers went toe-to-toe and ended with a 20-12 final score. This was a big game for the Ravens as they are still capable of winning the AFC North. After a slow start, they went back to the bread-and-butter power run game and outside concepts, which produced over 200-yards on the ground and a dismantling victory over the Bucs defense.

Co-MVP: Lamar Jackson

Another game, another NFL record for the rookie. Lamar is the first quarterback to produce five-straight games with at least 70 yards rushing.

Co-MVP: Marlon Humphrey

What a great display of defense on this rain-soaked afternoon. Marlon shut down play after play and eventually hauled in his first interception of the season. Later in the fourth, he broke up the fourth-down attempt by Jameis Winston. Marlon is truly becoming the star cornerback for the Ravens.

Stock-up

Gus Edwards Jr. — He still has not gone for negative yardage on a rushing play. He’s over 100 rushing attempts now, with zero of them going for a loss of yardage.

Kenneth Dixon — Both of these tailbacks are looking like the future. Both are huge compliments to one another and Jackson. Dixon’s early runs kept the Ravens moving when nothing else was.

Willie Snead IV — Good thing he’s signed for another season after this. He’s a big factor for Jackson’s success. Nothing better for a young quarterback than a strong possession receiver in the slot.

Mark Andrews — Great catches and intelligence to find the soft spots in the Buccaneers defense. He’s now competing with Snead for Jackson’s favorite target.

Hayden Hurst — It’s great to see the first pick in the 2018 NFL draft get going. On a tough weather day, this is what many hoped to see. A big-bodied tight end with strong hands make completions to move the chains.

Justin Tucker — His stock is always at an all-time high, but I’m always going to appreciate his play. Tucker kept the Ravens ahead on a rainy day.

Brandon Williams — The defense needed to keep Peyton Barber from gaining yet another first down. B-Will blew past former Raven Ryan Jensen as he hit Barber in the backfield and turned the 3rd & 1 into a 4th & 4, which was denied by Humphrey on the next play. Great defensive effort.

Chris Moore — When he gets the ball, he makes the most of it. He scored a touchdown and had a great return. Hope to see more of him.

C.J. Mosley — The Bucs had a screen pass look like it was going for gold but the middle linebacker sniffed it out quick and hit the hole. Good to see some speed from the bigger linebacker.

Patrick Onwuasor — He helped Mosley on their tandem sack and batted a pass out of the endzone. Great work by the linebackers.

Morgan Cox — It’s a good thing when your name isn’t being called as a longsnapper. Fortunately, he’s continuing a great streak and his snaps have kept the special teams nearly perfect.

Sam Koch — Some good punts and perfect holds for Tucker’s field goal completions. You must appreciate it when you see the opponent drop the football on a PAT early in the game. Thank you, Wolfpack!

Stock down

Cyrus Jones — Just don’t touch the football. Don’t go for it. Don’t try and make a play in the rain with the ball bouncing around. Hopefully, that is a one-off and we can move on.

John Brown — Had a good game last week with a touchdown but he continues to suffer on the back-half of this season. A tough drop in the weather is unfortunate, and with the offense becoming so run-heavy, you must make the most of the opportunities.

Eric Weddle — He was steamrolled on the first play of the game by Barber and missed an easy interception in the first quarter. He’s losing a step.

Jimmy Smith — It looks like his injury-riddled career is catching up to him. He’s no longer as fast or agile, which is putting him just behind the receiver on some plays.
