First Responder Bowl: Boston College Vs. Boise State (1:30 PM EST, ESPN)
Edge, Zach Allen, Boston College (#2)
Allen is a strong force on the edge for the Eagles. His strength and violent hand use has made Zach a pass rushing demon. His athleticism ceiling is pretty low though.
Edge, Wyatt Ray, Boston College (#11)
Allen brings the boom on one side, and Ray brings the lighting on the other. Ray’s athleticism might give him a higher ceiling in the NFL than his more productive counterpart.
OG, Chris Lindstrom, Boston College (#75)
BC is a predominantly run heavy team. Therefore he wasn’t asked to pass block a whole lot. When he was though, he showed the sand in his pants can handle power and speed.
RB, Alex Mattison, Boise State (#22)
Mattison has good size, and shows very good balance through the hole. He plows through arm tackles easily, and has enough shiftiness to make defenders miss in the openfield.
TE, Tommy Sweeney, Boston College (#89)
Sweeny’s true potential as a receiver has yet to be seen. As a blocker though, it can be argued that he is one of the better ones in the draft.
QB, Brett Rypien, Boise State (#4)
Rypien is a pocket passer that is blessed with great mechanics and a quick release. Those things alone will get your foot in the door. Throw in some mobility, and you got yourself someone worth developing.
S, Lukas Denis, Boston College (#21)
Denis has been a difference maker for the Eagles. He is always around the ball, and has a knack for turning the ball over.
Quick Lane Bowl: Minnesota Vs. Georgia Tech (5:15 PM EST, ESPN)
WR, Tyler Johnson, Minnesota (#6)
Johnson has had a very productive season for Minnesota. He rounded out 2018 by surpassing 1000 yards and double digit scores. He can work from the slot or the outside.
RB, Rodney Smith, Minnesota (#1)
Smith is a late round prospect that shows some smooth cutting ability. He lacks in long speed, which will limit his ceiling to being a role player.
Cheez-It Bowl: California Vs. TCU (9:00 PM EST, ESPN)
OT, Lucas Niang, TCU (#77)
Niang is one of my favorite sleepers at tackle. Footwork aside, he is very nimble for a dude his size, and has enough functional strength to withstand the bull.
Edge, Ben Banogu, TCU (#15)
Banogu has a lot of fans out there. He is a high effort player that does everything alright. He is very raw when it comes to technique though.
LB, Ty Summers, TCU (#42)
Summers fits the mold of a modern off-ball LBer. He has the athletic ability and range, and also is decent in coverage. His tackling could use some work though.
