Unreal punt by Kern. #Redskins have to go 55 yards or so with no timeouts in :14 seconds
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) December 23, 2018
Gruden got a little choked up in presser talking about how his guys laid it on the line and how hard they competed today.
— Lake Lewis Jr (@LakeLewis) December 23, 2018
Gruden on the tempo on the final drive: “We wanted to stick with the run and didn’t want to put it all on Josh yet...Thought we had a good playcall but they brought a corner blitz and got a pick.”
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) December 23, 2018
Gruden seems to be fighting back tears at the podium. You can tell this one hurts.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) December 23, 2018
Peterson said “it’s alright man” to Gruden as he walked off the podium.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) December 23, 2018
AP to the podium now.
Anything can happen because change will absolutely occur for the #Redskins. IF they do the right thing and fire Bruce Allen, a new Pres. could hire his own GM/Coach etc but I think (and have heard) that Jay Gruden is coming back. Sorry if that bothers you, but he's not #1 issue.
— Chris Russell (@Russellmania621) December 23, 2018
Despite the late INT, I think Josh Johnson has played himself into an invite back for next season to compete for a roster spot.
— Lake Lewis Jr (@LakeLewis) December 23, 2018
Dagger of a loss for the #Redskins. Josh Johnson made one huge mistake and it turned out to be one too many. Adrian Peterson was sensational.
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) December 23, 2018
It's a shame for Johnson because he played a terrific game. He and Adrian Peterson kept making plays. It just wasn't enough. plays like Floyd's drop at the 5... Moreau penalty on third down.. killers. Had to make (Have not seen a good replay of Moreau to know if good call).
— John Keim (@john_keim) December 23, 2018
The game ended 45 minutes ago. Josh Norman is still in full uniform, facing his locker stall. Almost everyone else is showered and gone. #Redskins
— Tarik El-Bashir (@Tarik_ElBashir) December 23, 2018
45 minutes after the game, they’re closing the locker room.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) December 23, 2018
Josh Norman will not speak. He is still in his full uniform, head buried in his hands at his locker.
Pernell McPhee is also in full uniform.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) December 23, 2018
He’s never given up on this team despite his own play. Was one of the guys who called and led the team meeting last week.
After the game, linebacker Ryan Anderson walked over to quarterback Josh Johnson's locker and said, "I appreciate you 8." Players were firmly in Johnson's corner after he threw a back-breaking interception in Tennessee territory late in the game. "They... https://t.co/5Xzi0FofYY

Josh Johnson: “We were right where we wanted to be.”
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) December 23, 2018
Says this is simply sports. There are winners and losers. Today, they lost.
POLL TIME: IF the Redskins are still in playoff contention next week, should they start Colt McCoy.
— NBC Sports Redskins (@NBCSRedskins) December 23, 2018
Answers coming up on Redskins Overtime Live on @NBCSWashington.
Painful loss. But all respect to #AdrianPeterson, who had one of the best big-game #Redskins performances of the last few years despite facing a stout #Titans defense & despite guys named Bowanko and Kerin being the starting guards.
— Al Galdi (@AlGaldi) December 23, 2018
Adrian Peterson on big day (passing Dickerson/1,000 yards: "The loss overrides that. Maybe I will appreciate it after Christmas. I play this game to win and have the opportunity to win a championship. Falling short of that is what is heavy on my heart right now."

— Washington Redskins (@Redskins) December 23, 2018
He says the biggest one is the 3rd & 1 late.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) December 23, 2018
Peterson says he was so determined to get the first down that he decided not to bounce it outside. If he did, he says he hits his head on the goalpost.
Skins offense is on their 4th QB, about their 90th pair of guards, no Reed or Davis, no Paul Richardson. Johnson did really well, as did Crowder. Peterson was phenomenal. Defense has to hold up better against Blaine Gabbert. https://t.co/PmFPbhnBgu

Redskins safety D.J. Swearinger just ripped into defensive coordinator Greg Manusky for not playing mote zone coverage. He said a "kindergarten QB" could make plays vs. man. Swearinger was incensed they were in man on the Fabian Moreau play that resulted in a penalty.
— John Keim (@john_keim) December 23, 2018
D.J. Swearinger was NOT happy with Greg Manusky's play calling down the stretch.

Continued: "But with the playmakers we got on the defense, man, there's no way we should have lost this game. I felt like we was the better team. I felt like we could have been in a better call on that third down, man Just being 100."
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) December 23, 2018
Swearinger and Manusky cannot be expected to coexist in 2019. https://t.co/A7ATBasAQ8
— Burgundy Blog (@BurgundyBlog) December 23, 2018
After these comments, I have no idea how you can keep Swearinger and Manusky in the building together for another week. https://t.co/SLUmUI4ctG
— michael phillips (@michaelpRTD) December 23, 2018
A contrary opinion to Swearinger... #redskins https://t.co/hpII8777KV
— Kareem Copeland (@kareemcopeland) December 23, 2018
I am absolutely certain that @jonallen93_ will be a team captain in 2019. https://t.co/1OUqJh46Aj
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) December 23, 2018
Maybe Allen just doesn't like HOW swearinger is handling it, in the media instead of keeping it in house. I agree and don't like it either. He's doing it every week now smh Go tell him face to face and not bash the coach to the media every week, like they did fans and players
— Amela M. (@michelle_Y26) December 23, 2018
Here's the thing...
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) December 23, 2018
Swearinger's comments have some merit. They probably are a better zone team. They did just almost have an INT on the previous 3rd down. However. If you can't cover these receivers in man against Blaine Gabbert. Don't talk about how talented you are.
Final quote from Swearinger:
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) December 23, 2018
"Make him beat us. Make him (think) “oh okay, it’s zone. Go here.” I’m gonna go pick you off. If it’s man, 3x1, you’re going back-side every time. A kindergarten quarterback knows that man."
Also. The idea that a quarteback is going to the single receiver of a 3x1 set against man every time is patently false.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) December 23, 2018
The #Redskins have been killed all year by 3 WR stacks/bunches/picks ALL against man coverage.
Moreau had the easiest job. Cover the guy. He couldn't.
Swearinger eventually owned some of his own mistakes, including the missed tackles.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) December 23, 2018
"We didn't play make the plays, but put us in better positions."
DJ Swearinger had a lot to say, again. It doesn’t matter if he’s right (which he’s mostly not), he shouldn’t have said it.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) December 23, 2018
Also, Adrian Peterson is just amazing. Column from Nashville. https://t.co/oZXQyg7WuN
DJ made the comments, but he wasn’t the only one thinking it. A lot of Skins defenders were very upset in that locker room.
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) December 23, 2018
Of course he did
— Chick Hernandez (@MrChickSports) December 23, 2018
I'm about ready for DJ to shut up.

Ohio State fans will not be surprised by these antics. https://t.co/LzzxNjalCc

Why did Taylor Lewan go after Josh Norman postgame? https://t.co/qLkzDFWJcJ pic.twitter.com/j065x9lDqB
— NBC Sports Redskins (@NBCSRedskins) December 23, 2018
More Lewan on Norman: “I’m not worried about Josh Norman. ... I mean, I don’t know who that is. I was pissed. He was trying to hurt Derrick. That’s BS. That’s not the way football’s supposed to be played, man. It’s not our fault you’re not relevant anymore.”
— Travis Haney (@travhaney) December 23, 2018
This is BS from Lewan https://t.co/dmiRrAfCe1

2. Anything else you want to do.

The #Redskins can't officially be eliminated until tomorrow, but they need Minnesota to lose.

Seattle losing also helps. They have been eliminated from NFC East title contention.
