Congrats.
The NFL revealed the 2019 Pro Bowl rosters on Tuesday evening and a total of three Philadelphia Eagles players made the final cut. Here’s the list.
Fletcher Cox — Defensive tackle (Fourth Pro Bowl selection)
Zach Ertz — Tight end (Second Pro Bowl selection)
Brandon Brooks — Offensive guard (Second Pro Bowl selection)
The number of Eagles selections this year is down from last season’s total of six. Of course, the Eagles were 12-2 at this time last year. Being 7-7 comes with fewer Pro Bowl selections.
None of the Eagles’ Pro Bowl players played in the 2018 game anyway since they were getting ready for a much more important game: the Super Bowl. Hopefully that’s the case this year as well.
Here are some quick notes/thoughts on all the selections.
- Cox is a beast. It’s good to see he no longer gets snubbed from these honors.
- Ertz is having a fantastic season. With two games left to play, he’s 10 catches away from setting the record for most tight end receptions in a single season.
- Brooks is truly one of the league’s best guards. He’s great in both pass protection and run blocking. Super durable, too.
- Jason Kelce got snubbed here. He’s still one of the best — if not THE best — centers in the league.

- The 2019 Pro Bowl game will air on ESPN/ABC on Sunday, January 27. The event is hosted in Orlando, Florida and will feature the NFC battling against the AFC.
From the Eagles’ press release:
Brooks originally signed with the Eagles as a free agent in 2016 and has gone on to start 44 games at right guard for Philadelphia. He is now tied with Evan Mathis and Shawn Andrews for the most Pro Bowl selections by an offensive guard in franchise history.
Cox’s four Pro Bowl nominations mark the most by a defensive tackle in Eagles history and the second-most among all Eagles defensive linemen, trailing only DE Reggie White (7). Cox currently leads the Eagles in sacks (7.5) and combined QB pressures and hurries (62). According to radar360, Cox ranks second in the NFL in QB hits (29), trailing only Rams DT Aaron Donald (34).
Ertz, who is currently on a record-breaking pace in 2018, has hauled in 101 receptions for 1,038 yards and six TDs. The six-year pro has already set the single-season team record for receptions (101), surpassing the previous mark of 90 set by Brian Westbrook in 2007. Ertz is one of just four TEs in NFL history to reach 100+ receptions, joining Jason Witten in 2012 (110), Tony Gonzalez in 2004 (102) and Dallas Clark in 2009 (100). With two games remaining in the regular season, Ertz has a chance to set the NFL single-season record for receptions by a TE (110 by Witten in 2012). In addition to leading all tight ends in receptions, Ertz’s 101 catches in 2018 rank third overall in the NFL behind only Saints WR Michael Thomas (109) and Vikings WR Adam Thielen (105). Ertz’s 1,038 receiving yards rank 10th overall in the NFL and second among tight ends.
