Top performers from Buccaneers win over Panthers

The best players from one of the Bucs’ biggest wins of 2018

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Carolina Panthers 24-17 on Sunday to improve to 5-7 on the season and send the Panthers to their fourth straight loss.

That’s two wins in a row for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and they played their second straight complete game on Sunday. With a win comes positives and here are some of the most impressive performers from the teams win.

Chris Godwin: With DeSean Jackson sidelined due to a thumb injury, Godwin had another opportunity to show that he can be the teams number two receiver and he didn’t disappoint. Godwin finished with five catches on six targets for 101 yards and a touchdown. It was the third time Godwin has reached the 100-yard mark in his career. With Jackson likely gone after the season, Godwin should be the number two receiver the rest of the season. Continue to build that chemistry with Winston.

Adam Humphries: Nothing too flashy, but it seems like this is a weekly occurrence with Hump. He finished the game with seven receptions on nine targets for 61 yards and a touchdown. It was just another afternoon for one of the best slot receivers in football. Humphries is continuing to develop his overall game and his chemistry with Winston is off the charts. As I say every week, extend this man now.

Jameis Winston: Another solid, smart performance from Jameis Winston. He finished 20-30 for 249 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions. He was also the Buccaneers leading rusher with five carries for 48 yards. This is the second straight week that Winston really hasn’t forced anything. Outside of one pass today, it was a clean smart game from the 24 year old. He also became the Buccaneers franchise record holder with his 81st passing touchdown of his career at the end of the second quarter.

Lavonte David: In his first game back from injury, David was back to his old ways. He finished the game with 12 total tackles, 12 of them being solo and he added a sack and a pass defense. His pass defense led to an interception for Andrew Adams. It was the type of game that we expect from David everytime he is on the field because he is simply one of the best linebackers in the league that no one ever talks about.

Andrew Adams: Who? Yeah, that’s right, Andrew Adams recorded three interceptions today for the Buccaneers. To put that into perspective, no Buccaneer defender had more than three interceptions all of last season. It was an incredible performance from a player who was on the street just a couple months ago. The Buccaneers as a team now have six interceptions in the last five quarters after going nearly two months without a single turnover.

Javien Elliott: He has been up and down all season long in terms of being active and inactive, but Elliott recorded his first interception of the season on Sunday and returned it 50 yards to help the Buccaneers put up points before the end of the half. It was a great read on the ball and he showed incredible athleticism to stay on his feet and get that extra yardage.

Honorable mention: Jason Pierre Paul, Gerald McCoy and Peyton Barber. Yes, Barber only had 45 yards on the ground, but he had a touchdown and should have had another if the referees hadn’t screwed him.
