Tyler Boyd says he’ll be fine after injury scare; happy to hit 1k milestone

Boyd was a happy camper following the Bengals’ 30-16 win over the Raiders to cap off the home season.

Sunday was a special day for Tyler Boyd that almost ended in disaster.

Early in the Bengals’ matchup with the Raiders, Boyd reached 1,000 yards receiving for the first time in his career before hurting his right knee late in the first half. He didn’t return and was ruled out not long after the injury occurred, which suggested it was a significant issue.

However, it now appears the Bengals were just being precautious with their star receiver. After the game, Boyd said the injury isn’t serious and thinks he’ll be fine going forward.

“Nothing too serious. Nothing to worry about,” said Boyd. “I will be ready to go (next week) for sure.”

However, Bengals.com’s Geoff Hobson did add this:

But there are those in the building not as optimistic as Boyd and he said he’ll undergo an MRI Monday.

Whatever the case may be, it shouldn’t take away from what’s been a special season for Boyd. With A.J. Green out for the season with a toe injury, Boyd is now the leading receiver with 1,028 yards and six scores on 76 catches. Boyd is also the Bengals’ first non-Green receiver to eclipse 1,000 yards since 2009 when Chad Johnson had his last great season.

”That’s something I wanted to accomplish since got to the NFL,” Boyd said of the mark. “Now that I’ve done it, it’s on to the next one. I think I have to think about, let it marinate. But it’s time to reset my goals. It was a great day for me.”

Boyd achieved the milestone while also helping the Bengals score a 30-16 win over the Raiders to end a five-game losing streak. It also ensured the Bengals end their home season with the taste of victory in their mouth.

“Definitely. There is no better feeling,” Boyd said of winning the home finale. ‘You can’t go out like that. You have to secure your home field. You can’t end the season losing your last home game. It’s great that we are starting to win again.”
