The Chicago Bears have announced the hiring of Mark DeLeone as their new inside linebackers coach. DeLeone had spent the previous six years with the Kansas City Chiefs, so he has a history with head coach Matt Nagy.
His first job in the NFL was with the New York Jets in 2012 where he was a defensive quality control coach. He held that same position with the Chiefs in 2013 and 2014 before being promoted to assistant linebackers coach the next three seasons. Last year he was moved to inside linebackers coach in K.C.
Prior to the NFL, he assisted in the college ranks from 2007 to 2011 at four different schools. He also coached more than just linebackers, spending time with the offensive line, wide receivers, tight ends, and defensive linemen.
DeLeone is the latest addition to defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano’s staff following the hire of Ted Monachino as senior defensive assistant and outside linebackers coach on January 21.
