The Indianapolis Colts will officially be without one of their role players against the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The team added safety Mike Mitchell to injured reserve due to a calf strain he suffered against the Houston Texans in the wild card round.
The #Colts today elevated safety Rolan Milligan to the 53-man roster from the practice squad and placed S Mike Mitchell on Injured Reserve with a calf strain suffered last week.

Colts head coach Frank Reich spoke to Sirius XM NFL Radio about Mitchell on Tuesday.
“His deal’s a little more serious, so we’re not anticipating him being up,” the coach told co-hosts Lance Medow and Bill Polian, per Sirius XM.
Mitchell logged 224 regular-season defensive snaps for the Colts in 2018, or around 21 percent. He had 13 snaps against the Colts in the wild card round before leaving the game.
If the name sounds familiar, it should. Mitchell used to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers and had a dirty hit on former Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith last season during Week 6.
“I felt like it was extremely late,” Smith said at the time. “I felt like there was nothing done there to avoid contact. It was really low from the back side. I thought it was about as flagrant as it gets when it comes to a low hit on the quarterback. I don’t think this is a first offense either. You know, when you start looking at that stuff, when you get repeat offenders, I think when they get shots at quarterbacks they’re going to take them.”
Mitchell would have only played limited snaps, but it is likely better he isn’t available at all when it comes to the safety of Patrick Mahomes and other Chiefs players.
