The Eagles were unable to overcome the Saints in the Superdome, and we’re now one game closer to New Orleans using Atlanta’s locker room in the Super Bowl. Chaos reigns. Anybody got any Rams gear lying around?
If that notion doesn’t start your Monday on the brightest note, maybe Falcoholinks will.
Addressing the Ground Game
The Falcons’ lack of success in the running game last season is well-documented, and if Dirk Koetter expects to get this offense churning to its expected level, properly deploying Atlanta’s running backs is a key. Dave Choate rightly argues that improving the run game and not heavily relying on it should be Koetter’s gameplan.
With expected additions (and subtractions) on the offensive line and a healthy group of backs, we should see an improvement over the pedestrian 2018.
Hopes and Fears
With the 2018 mess in the rearview, we’re in full offseason mode as we begin anticipating and evaluating all of the Falcons’ moves as they prepare for 2019. This week The Falcoholic staff weighed in on their biggest hopes for the upcoming season, and since positivity is in short supply, they made sure to name their biggest fears, as well.
Thomas Dimitroff hinted at some of the team’s plans in an interview with 92.9 The Game, so if the Falcons taking a defensive back with their first pick falls onto your list, avert your eyes.
HOOOOOOOOOP
Austin Hooper allayed a lot of concerns with recent season, improving on a pretty poor sophomore effort to finish in the top 10 in many offensive metrics at the TE position. The Falcoholic’s Adnan Ikic is exploring the five best players on the Falcons’ offense in 2018, and Hooper starts his list.
The Falcoholic Crossfire Podcast
It’s our new favorite podcast format — no holds barred, no insult over the line. This week’s episode sees Adnan Ikic defending his title against Eric Robinson, and these two did not hold back. Topics including a 2019 wide receiver touchdown debate, whether Dan Quinn will field a top 10 defense, and if next season is finally the year that Matt Ryan eclipses 5,000 yards passing. Give it a listen right here, and make sure you vote for the victor.
