The Kist & Solak Show #63!
The Chicago Bears’ offense goes as far as Matt Nagy can carry Mitch Trubisky. The problem for the defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles’ defense is that Nagy is really good at scheming Trubisky to success.
Speaking of scheme, the Bears’ offense should look familiar to Eagles’ fans and also those who follow the Kansas City Chiefs. Given Nagy’s history, that should come of no surprise. They’ll use a bevy of 3x1 shotgun sets and RPOs to spread enemy defenses and get their quarterback into a rhythm. How can the Eagles stop it?
Concerning the RPOs, you can stop it by following the five commandments laid out in my piece about Nagy’s scheme. The Eagles’ have to eliminate options pre-snap and choose for the Bears’ which poison they’d like to drink so they can react to it quicker.
As far as the rest goes? Well, first, you better have a plan for running back Tarik Cohen. He leads the Bears in scrimmage yards, is second on the team in touchdowns, and line-ups at a multitude of alignments. We’ll know very quickly how Jim Schwartz plans to deal with Cohen as the Bears will move him around early to figure out the matchups they can get.
We break that down along with a number of other scheme and personnel discussions in our newest episode of The Kist & Solak Show! Stream it on the media player below or click here if the player doesn’t load. FLY EAGLES FLY!
