Jared Cook has two 30-yard plus catches to lead all TE’s at the Pro Bowl

He didn’t get the call for the Pro Bowl back in December with many of the players in Orlando. No, Jared Cook has to wait until the last minute for his phone to ring to make his first trip to the Pro Bowl in his 10-year career. And he made the most of the invitation.

Cook’s first catch came in the first quarter from league MVP and Pro Bowl MVP Pat Mahomes. It went for 33 yards to get the AFC away from their own goal line and help with field position. A good portion of that came after the catch as he broke a tackle and went up the sideline.

He would later have an 8-yard catch and the AFC led the NFC 17-0 at the half.

Still shutting out the NFC late in the third quarter, Cook extended to make a gorgeous catch in traffic for 30 yards from DeSean Watson.

That catch made him the game’s second-leading receiver behind Keenan Allen. Later in the game fullback Anthony Sherman would take a short pass and rumble for 49 yards to overtake Cook as the second-leading receiver, but Cook would still lead all tight ends.

Fellow AFC tight end Eric Ebron had one catch for 18 yards and it was the game’s first touchdown. 49ers tight end George Kittle led the NFC with 5 catches for 39 yards.

The NFC was able to get on the board late in the game while everyone was goofing around and having fun, even if the viewers weren’t. Dez Bryant found Austin Hooper to help the NFC avoid the shutout, 26-7.

They might have had another one except Amari Cooper had a wide open deep ball bounce off his facemask.
