NFL playoff schedule: Saints eliminate Eagles, conference title games set

The divisional round is over.

And then there were only four. The NFL’s divisional round is over and it ended with the elimination of the reigning world champions: the Philadelphia Eagles jumped to an early 14-0 lead on the road against the top-seeded New Orleans Saints but ultimately allowed Drew Brees and company to climb back into the contest — thanks in large part to a fake punt and a touchdown pass on fourth down — to win 20-14.

With the Eagles eliminated we now know two things. We know that there will be no repeat Super Bowl champion for the 14th straight season as the 2003-2004 New England Patriots remain the last team to defend its title. We also know which teams will play for a trip to the Super Bowl next Sunday, January 20, in the conference championship round:

Los Angeles Rams at New Orleans Saints Saints, 3:05 p.m. ET (FOX)

New England Patriots at Kansas City Chiefs, 6:40 p.m. ET (CBS)

The top two teams in each of the conferences advanced through the divisional round with the Patriots and Chiefs winning in dominant fashion, and the Rams and Saints playing tighter games. But safe to say that next weekend will be pretty entertaining.
