Trevor Bates remains hospitalized undergoing mental health evaluations.
According to his agent, Detroit Lions linebacker Trevor Bates remains hospitalized for psychological testing following an odd altercation that started with an arrest over an unpaid $32 cab fare and ended with Bates reportedly punching an officer and needing to be tased to be subdued.
In an official statement shared with the Detroit media, Bates’ agent, Jeff Jankovich said that his family and others close to him are shocked and concerned over this behavior, which they see as uncharacteristic of Bates.
“I have spoken with members of Trevor’s family and others close to him, all of whom have expressed deep concern that his behavior this weekend is not at all consistent with the man and friend we know him to be,” Jankovich wrote in an official statement.

The Detroit Lions have yet to come to a decision about Bates’ future with the team, however general manager Bob Quinn released the following statement on Saturday:
“We are aware of the arrest of Trevor Bates earlier today in New York. We have not spoken to Trevor as of yet and are still in the process of gathering more information. The Detroit Lions will have no further comment at this time.”
Who knows if we’ll ever get the full story from Bates’ point of view, but for now let’s just hope that he and the officer injured both get the help they need for a full recovery.
