AAF Sunday evening open thread: San Diego Fleet vs. San Antonio Commanders

Welcome to the second half of today’s AAF doubleheader, featuring the San Diego Fleet against the San Antonio Commanders. Both of these teams are 1-1 and are looking to get over the .500 mark in this young season.

Philip Nelson and Mike Bercovici have split time at quarterback for the Fleet so far, with Nelson getting more attempts and yards, although Bercovici has a vastly suprerior completion percentage so we’ll see how that battle goes as the season rolls on. Wideout Brian Brown leads the Fleet in receiving yards with 93, though former Cowboys TE Gavin Escobar is not far behind with 73.

Former Toledo Rockets QB Logan Woodside is the unquestioned signal-caller for San Antonio, and he has four reliable targets. Mekale McKay, Alonzo Moore, De’Marcus Ayers and Greg Ward Jr. all have over 70 yards receiving on the year, giving the Commanders offense a great deal of versatility and matchup problems for opposing defenses.

This game will begin at 5 p.m. Pacific on NFL Network.
