All positions Raiders must address in 2019 offseason and how to address them

There’s a lot of ways to address these positions, but make no mistake; they must be addressed.

Last offseason, Jon Gruden went crazy, signing so many players it made your head spin. Within the first couple weeks of free agency, he had added some 25 free agents to the roster. Most weren’t big names or high priced guys. They couldn’t be with that many of them being added.

It’s rather crazy to think that now a year later, we are pretty much in the same position with regard to how many positions must be addressed either in free agency or the draft. By my count, some 15 spots on the depth chart will require a player be added this offseason.

Defensive end (2) – Add a top free agent (whichever of these guys who doesn’t get the franchise tag would do nicely) and select one high in the draft

Outside wide receiver – Draft one with one of their low first round picks.

Running back (2) – Re-sign Doug Martin. Also attempt to add one of these guys in free agency and if not draft one in the 3rd or 4th round.

Right tackleAdd one in free agency and if not draft one in 2nd or 3rd round.

Inside linebacker – Make a run at CJ Mosley. If they can’t reel him in, sign an insurance plan and look to draft either Devin White or Devin Bush with one of their picks in the top 35.

Strong safety – Pray for Landon Collins but be ok with one of several other free agents

Outside linebacker – Sign Anthony Barr

Tight end – Re-sign Jared Cook

Slot receiver – Draft one in first three rounds.

Slot cornerback – Sign one in free agency. There figures to be plenty of good options.

Defensive interior – Re-sign Johnathan Hankins

Reserve utility guard/tackle – Re-sign Denzelle Good. Draft one in mid rounds.

Reserve utility center/guard – Bring in under radar free agent or mid/low round draft pick.
