2018 NFL trade grades: The 30 most impactful of the past 365 days | ESPN
13. Rams get an All-Pro cornerback
Chiefs trade: CB Marcus Peters, 6-209
Rams trade: 4-124, 2019 second-round pick
Kansas City’s cornerbacks were a mess before dealing Peters and continued to give Bob Sutton’s defense fits in 2018, but the Rams didn’t get the sort of shutdown play they were hoping for from their new addition. Peters picked off three passes and took one to the house, but he was badly torched by top receivers and struggled with Aqib Talib out of the lineup.
The 10 Biggest X Factors That Could Decide Super Bowl LIII | The Ringer
Against the Chiefs in the AFC championship game, Jackson was called for one defensive holding penalty and two pass-interference penalties and gave up a 27-yard pass to Demarcus Robinson—all of which gave the Chiefs first downs in the fourth quarter. This is more worrisome considering we can be sure the refs will have a … vigilant eye on pass-interference penalties in this game. Jackson has had a strong season, but the Chiefs showed McVay and Co. that Jackson can be picked on. How he responds in this game could be massive.
Chiefs great Johnny Robinson should finally get that Hall of Fame call Saturday | Kansas City Star
The last time a solo senior wasn’t ushered in was 1997, when Jerry Kramer was snubbed only to finally be admitted last year. Kramer’s induction left Robinson the only remaining player not yet in Canton to have appeared on a Hall of Fame-produced poster in the Robinson family den that depicts the best players of the 1960s in the AFL and NFL.

Kansas City Chiefs: CB Rock Ya-Sin, Temple
The man with the best name in this year’s draft class, Rock Ya-Sin, has everything the Kansas City Chiefs need: He’s a ball-hawking cornerback who competes on every down.

For NFL players, adding Jr., II and III to their jerseys is deeper than you think | Yahoo! Sports
And when asked by Yahoo Sports this week, all six of the players who will wear generational nameplates on Sunday — Johnson III, Dante Fowler Jr., Todd Gurley II, Rodger Safford III, Deatrich Wise Jr. and Reginald “Duke” Dawson Jr. — made it clear that their reasons for doing so go beyond vanity, or a desire to follow the trend. “It’s way deeper than that,” Johnson said. “Your family brought you up, and it takes a village [to raise a child]. There’s a bunch of factors that go into the man that you become.”
Redskins name Rob Ryan inside linebackers coach | NFL
The 56-year-old previously held defensive coordinator roles with the New Orleans Saints (2013-15), Dallas Cowboys (2011-12), Cleveland Browns (2009-10) and Oakland Raiders (2004-08). In his first year in New Orleans, Ryan led a defensive that ranked No. 4 in points-per-game allowed and No. 2 in the league in passing defense, but the unit got progressively worse in subsequent seasons.’
The Bears’ plan to improve their NFL-leading defense | NBC Sports
Still, “our vision for this defense is to be the best,” said Chuck Pagano upon arrival to succeed Vic Fangio as defensive coordinator. “Can we be the best in the history of the game? The pieces are there and they will continue to add pieces. Can we continue to be better than we were last year? Absolutely.”
Baker Mayfield vs. Saquon Barkley: Who’s NFL’s offensive rookie of year? | ESPN
Mayfield stepped in and immediately helped a perennial loser win some games. Barkley simply made a run at being the game’s best running back. Not bad, but only one of them can win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award, which will be handed out on Saturday.
Steelers’ JuJu Smith-Schuster: ‘Let’s stop all the B.S.’ | NFL
”In my dream world, what would I have? I would have Le’Veon Bell at running back with James Conner. I’d have A.B. stay on the other side. And win the Super Bowl with the guys that we have, the guys that we keep.
”Obviously it’s tough, situations like that, where you can’t control. ... For me, it’s more so. Let’s keep the guys on the team and let’s win the Super Bowl. Let’s stop all the bull----.”

Five free agents that fit in Steve Spagnuolo’s defense
Steve Spagnuolo is here to fix the defensive woes of the Kansas City Chiefs and it’s presumed he will bring a 4-3 Under defense with him. While several players under contract in Kansas City for 2019 make perfect sense in the new defensive look, there is obviously still a need to add talent to the most glaring issue the Chiefs had in their run to the AFC Championship game.
Here are five players we discussed on the AP Laboratory this week:
Report: NFL considering allowing challenges of officials’ judgment calls
According to Schefter, what is being considered is a plan where coaches would have a limited ability to challenge these calls. If the officials’ judgment call is not overturned on review, the team making the challenge would be penalized or have time run off the clock.
“I think we’re going to be great for Mexico because I think it puts it on a stage that I think is great for the country and shows all the assets and value that Mexico has. But I also think it’s great for the NFL and our fans, most importantly.”
