Most anticipate the Jacksonville Jaguars will be releasing quarterback Blake Bortles relatively soon, likely in the next two-to-three weeks, but a comment made by VP of Football Tom Coughlin put a bit of a panic in some fans on Wednesday afternoon.
“Blake [Bortles] is the quarterback of the Jacksonville Jaguars right now,” Coughlin said on AM690.
Lots of chatter on @ESPN690Jax about Coughlin's comments about Blake Bortles and the changes coming to the #Jaguars this season. @BrentASJax @A_Train_92 #duuuval Hear what we are talking about below or on the podcast: https://t.co/hXxEe9wWnx

Obviously, this sent Jaguars twitter in a bit of a panic/meltdown, but lets be real about this. What else is Tom Coughlin going to say? He’s not the kind who is going to “no comment” that or someone who is going to be deceptive. He’s straightforward and he simply just stated a true fact: Right now, Blake Bortles is the quarterback.
Remember when Jack Del Rio said Byron Leftwich was his quarterback?
Remember when Gus Bradley said Blaine Gabbert was his quarterback?
Make no mistake about it, the Jaguars are going to move on from Bortles this offseason one way or another. This is nothing to panic about.
