The Jacksonville Jaguars have hired longtime defensive coordinator Dom Capers as a senior defensive assistant, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The #Jaguars are set to hire Dom Capers as a senior defensive assistant on their coaching staff, per source. Strong addition to their staff who will assist DC Todd Wash and get to work with one of the league’s top defenses. 30 years of experience

Most recently Capers was the defensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers for nine seasons, moving on after the 2017 season. He has been a long time coordinator, a head coach a few times, and has even worked for the Jaguars previously under Tom Coughlin as the defensive coordinator.
It’s surprising that Capers either didn’t want a defensive coordinator position or that he didn’t get an offer. But adding him as a consultant for the defensive side of the ball will be very beneficial going forward. He has a wealth of knowledge and different schemes, so it could be someone current Jaguars defensive coordinator Todd Wash could bounce ideas off of.
