The Denver Broncos land cornerback Deandre Baker in Todd McShay’s latest mock draft.
Mock draft season is already well underway despite the 2019 NFL Draft being more than two months away. ESPN’s Todd McShay has released his 2.0 Mock and sees the Denver Broncos passing quarterback Drew Lock right on by in favor of Georgia cornerback Deandre Baker instead.
10. Denver Broncos
Deandre Baker, CB, Georgia
Denver could trade up for a quarterback or take the dive here for Kyler Murray or Drew Lock, but this secondary is hurting as well. Aqib Talib is long gone, and Chris Harris Jr. fractured his fibula in December. What’s more, Bradley Roby is a free agent. Baker is the most instinctive corner in the class.
Instead, McShay has Lock falling right out of his first round. In a perfect world, that would be perfect, but the world isn’t going to ever be perfect when it comes to drafting at the quarterback position.
Hopefully for the Broncos, that means they end up landing some quality first-round talent at the top end of the second round at a position of need. Because all signs truly point towards a quarterback in the top end of the first.
