The Falcons are bringing back their week 2 signing to help bolster depth.
The Falcons got rid of defensive end Brooks Reed last week, leaving themselves desperately thin at defensive end. While we expect Atlanta to add one or more pass rushers in the offseason, Dan Quinn needs more than Vic Beasley (possibly) and Takkarist McKinley to rely on.
Per Jason Butt of The Athletic, they are starting with Steven Means.
The Falcons are bringing DE Steven Means back on a one-year extension.

The deal is probably near veteran minimum. Means showed more than a lot of Falcons defenders on very limited snaps, receiving pretty good defensive grades for a backup from Pro Football Focus across 162 snaps. His pass rush could still use some work but did get 5 quarterback hits and 1.0 sacks.
The Falcons left open a roster spot in week 1 with the intention of signing Means to a non-guaranteed vet minimum deal. The team clearly likes him but not enough to have guaranteed his salary. He has some upside but will turn 29 this season. He should have a good chance at holding onto a final roster spot.
