Michael Crabtree to be released after one season in Baltimore

In December, the Raiders moved up the 2019 roster bonus for Jordy Nelson, offering a vote of confidence for the soon-to-be 34-year-old receiver that he would be part of their plans next season. Meanwhile the man he replaced in Oakland is getting released.

Schefter first reported it and it was confirmed by Ian Rapoport, though it isn’t a big surprise. We had him on the list of likely cap casualties this offseason. Jamison Hensley who covers the Ravens for ESPN noted Crabtree’s salary along with some dropped passes as reason for his release.

Crabtree will turn 32 in September. No doubt he will find another home to continue his NFL career as he was still a 16-game starter with over 100 targets last season, though he saw the lowest full season totals in catches (54), receiving yards (607), and touchdowns (3) of his ten-year NFL career.

By comparison, Jordy Nelson started slow last season, but finished strong to put up 63 catches for 739 yards and 3 touchdowns.
