Flacco in Washington?
The Redskins have one of the most difficult, and broken QB situations in the NFL heading into the 2019 season. Alex Smith is unlikely to play this year after breaking his tibia and fibula and then enduring several surgeries to deal with infections. Colt McCoy also broke his leg shortly after taking over as the team's starter. The team turned to Mark Sanchez, who was quickly replaced by Josh Johnson. The Redskins are reportedly working to re-sign Johnson, but the McCoy/Johnson pairing isn't exciting enough for an owner like Dan Snyder and a president like Bruce Allen.
News about Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco being traded to the Denver Broncos broke a few days ago. Denver gave up a 4th round pick to get a QB that just turned 34, and got replaced by a rookie last year.
Reports came out today that the Redskins were also interested in trading for Flacco. The Redskins love trading for older QBs on the downside of their career. Flacco will count for $18.5 million on this year's cap. This would have been a ridiculous amount for the Redskins considering they have Smith's $20.4 million and McCoy's $3.375 million($2m dead money).
The Redskins are likely to bring in at least 1 new QB this offseason, unless they plan on tanking the season with McCoy/Johnson behind center. There will be expensive rentals like Case Keenum and Nick Foles available. Or cheaper backups like Teddy Bridgewater and Ryan Fitzpatrick.
There is also this year's draft that doesn't boast a stellar class of QBs. The Redskins will likely have to trade up from #15 to get one of the top guys. They can draft one of the 2nd/3rd tier QBs this year to groom, but that still leaves them with Colt McCoy as their starter.
It could be worse, we could have Joe Flacco in Burgundy and Gold...
Opened the show with backstory on Flacco trade. As wrote for #Denver7, it came together quickly because another team interested. Washington was that team, per @dmac1043. https://t.co/Nn3eMVhjeh

.@dmac1043 on @1043TheFan Friday regarding the Broncos trade for Joe Flacco: "The reason why they had to make the deal was because of the Washington Redskins. The Redskins were interested and they were going to make a play for Joe Flacco." https://t.co/vIcbyG4vs2

I'll add a nugget to the Redskins/Flacco story as reported by @dmac1043 and @TroyRenck.

I was told Friday by a source close to the situation that they believed the Redskins were in the mix for Flacco. Info relayed to me vague enough not to report. Now we have another report.
