No compensatory NFL Draft picks for Buffalo Bills, as projected

A year after some busy free agency, the Bills are held out of the compensatory pick market

As the NFL announced its allotment of compensatory draft picks for the 2019 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills were bereft of bonuses for the second consecutive year with Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane. Washington, New England, and the Los Angeles Rams lead the way with the most compensation this year.

In the 2017 offseason, signings like Micah Hyde, Jordan Poyer, Stephen Hauschka, Patrick DiMarco, and Vladimir Ducasse offset the team’s losses of prior regime players like Robert Woods and Stephon Gilmore. In 2018, the Bills continued to spend with the additions of Star Lotulelei, Trent Murphy, and Chris Ivory, so this outcome was expected. The team’s been working hard to jettison bad contracts and build up a replacement roster, so any compensatory dividends may not pay off for another two or three years.

This news confirms what we knew at the end of the season: The Bills will have ten draft picks, with two each in round 4, 5, and 7.
