All the dates and events you need to know in the coming weeks and months.
The NFL “offseason” always seems to last forever, but in reality, is there really any offseason at all? Regardless of whether or not the season is in session, football dominates the news cycles and there’s no shortage of headlines to be found during the months of February-August.
Between the NFL draft, free agency, training camp and more, it can be hard to keep track of the multitude of important dates and events. No need to fret, however, as we have you covered here at Baltimore Beatdown.
February
NFL Scouting Combine
The annual combine is the first major event of the offseason. Between the 26th of February and 4th of March, the Ravens will have an opportunity to get a firsthand look at some of the top prospects in this years’ draft.
March
Franchise Tag Deadline
If the Ravens intend to use their franchise tag on any players, they’ll have to do so by 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, March 5.
Tampering Period Begins
On March 11, two days before the official start of free agency, the Ravens can begin negotiating with agents of pending unrestricted free agents.
Free Agency
As the new league year officially begins on March 13, so too does the start of free agency. When the clock strikes 4:00 p.m. ET, the Ravens can officially sign players.
Roster Bonuses
On March 17, WR Michael Crabtree and CB Brandon Carr are set to receive roster bonuses of $2 million and $1.5 million, respectively.
League Meetings
As is the case every year, league meetings will take place at the end of the month between March 24-27.
April
2019-20 Regular Season Schedule Announcement
We already know the Ravens home and away opponents next year, but the NFL will officially release the schedule for all 32 teams sometime in mid-April.
Offseason Workouts
The Ravens can begin their strength and conditioning offseason workout program on April 15.
Restricted Free Agent Deadline
All restricted free agents must sign offer sheets by April 19. We saw this deadline come into play last year when the Ravens agreed to terms with wide receiver Willie Snead IV.
NFL Draft
Baltimore will have a great chance to add some exciting prospects during the draft, which takes place from April 25-27.
May
Rookie Minicamp
At the discretion of the organization, the Ravens rookie class with participate in minicamps between May 3-6 or May 10-13.
July
Training Camp
Ravens players will officially report for training camp in mid-July.
August
Hall of Fame Weekend
While the Ravens won’t be playing in the annual hall of fame game like they did last year, fans will want to tune in between August 1-4 to see former Baltimore safety Ed Reed be inducted into the HOF.
Roster Finalization
Following multiple rounds of cuts, the Ravens will officially have to whittle down their roster to 53 players by August 31.
