Raiders hire AJ Neibel as new Strength and Conditioning coach

The Raiders coaching staff has undergone plenty of turnover this offseason, with coaches coming and going. That’s often a good sign, as assistants leverage their experience to get higher-profile jobs with other teams. And it looks like as of today the Raiders have a brand new strength and conditioning coach to replace the fired Tom Shaw.

Neibel has been in the game for more than 15 years now, starting out with the Raiders shortly after Jon Gruden’s first tenure with the team ended. He was an intern then, but moved up the ranks and worked for the San Francisco Giants and then as the head strength and conditioning coach for the Falcons and Jaguars.

He served as a coach with the Giants when they won the World Series in 2010, and in his tenure with the Falcons they reached the Super Bowl, though that team was plagued by injury. With the Jaguars in 2017, they were one of the toughest and most physical teams in the NFL and reached the AFC Championship Game, although they weren’t the same last year and have undergone an overhaul, which is why Neibel was available.

Tom Shaw is a legend and is not easily replaced, but Neibel has plenty of quality experience and brings championship mettle to his second run with the Silver and Black.
