Recent Raiders DE Damontre Moore leads AAF opening weekend with 9 QB pressures

In 2013 Damontre Moore was a 3rd round pick by the New York Giants out of Texas A&M. He had 9.5 sacks in his first three seasons and the last three seasons he’s been unable to stick with a team, appearing in just nine games combined with the Seahawks, Cowboys, and Raiders.

Last season, the Raiders were desperate for pass rush, so prior to week 13, they signed Moore to the roster. He would be with the club for two games before behind waived again. In those two games, he put up one tackle and one QB hit.

Hoping to do whatever he could to show the NFL he deserves more than the couple handful of snaps he’s gotten the past three years. Because the last team he suited up for was the Raiders, he was allocated to the San Diego Fleet.

In the team’s opening game, he was a force, putting up the first sack in AAF history, getting to Commanders quarterback Logan Woodside on the third play of the game.

That sack was the start of an eye opening game for Moore. He would get to the QB one more time to finish with 1.5 sacks for the game. He would also lead the Fleet with 10 combined tackles (5 solo) and one tackle for loss, while his 9 pressures would lead the 8-team league for its opening weekend.

He keeps this up and he may find himself back in Silver & Black once the AAF season is done. Lord knows they can use the pass rush. They had a pathetic NFL low 13 sacks all last season, so they have no business turning their nose up at this kind of production, even if it is against D-league type competition.
