Redskins Coaching News: Former Buccaneers QB Tim Rattay hired as QB Coach

Tampa!

The Redskins have found their replacement for Kevin O'Connell at QB coach, and it is former Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tim Rattay. O'Connell served as Washington's QB coach for the last two seasons before being promoted to Offensive Coordinator.

Tim Rattay was with the Buccaneers for one season in 2006 with Jon Gruden as head coach and Jay Gruden working as an offensive assistant. Ian Rapoport reports that Rattay interviewed for the QB coaching job with Jon for the Raiders laster season, but they went with Brian Callahan.

Rattay was a QB in the NFL from 2000-2007. The former 7th round pick started 18 games in his career.

He has been coaching since 2011 after he played two years for the Las Vegas Locomotives of the United Football League. He was their WR coach from 2011-12. He then went to his alma materLouisiana Tech to become their WR coach from 2013-15. He has been their QB coach since switching jobs in 2015.

The Redskins also interviewed former Bengals Offensive Coordinator Bill Lazor for the position.

And of course before the Kevin O'Connell promotion was official, it was reported that Ken Zampese was interviewed for the job.
